09/05: Easy Stripes and Plaids Tutorial

Man, I have been fighting with my computer over this demo all day! I recorded it at 8 this morning, it's now almost 9pm and I think I've finally figured out a way to make it work.

YouTube has a time limit on uploaded tutorials (file size doesn't really matter which is odd) of 10 minutes. Well after recording this 3 times, I still went over by three minutes which meant I couldn't upload it to YouTube unedited. So I tried editing it down, splitting it in half, but my video editing tools would crash whenever I made significant changes to the file.

I even dug out my CS3 discs and installed Premiere, which didn't help me either.

So, after a day of frustration I decided to forget YouTube and just upload a compressed version of the file to my own server. That way you don't have to go searching for part two, and I can get away from my computer before I do permanent harm to it! LOL

I'll cross my fingers that it plays for you, and if it doesn't, just right click this link and click "save as" to save the video to your computer for viewing off-line: Easy Stripes and Plaids Tutorial

Enjoy!

08/27: New CU Ribbons!

I finally got some time to sit down and work on some products this week. With the kids heading back to school things have been super busy around my house and Photoshop time has been limited. It will be nice to get back to some real graphics work again once all of the kids are in school!

So I made up this pack of embossed ribbons:

There are 8 different knots, bows, loops, and folds included in this pack, and it's CU OK, no credit required, so you can use them to embellish your pages, or to fill out your kits! Just click on the picture to get more information.

Of course you know I can't release a new product without a freebie for you!

Here's an additional looped ribbon for you to play with so that you can see the new product up close and personal before you buy! Included in the download is a greyscale PNG file along with a Quick Create PSD, just fill a layer and save to create your own beautiful ribbon!

CU OK, no credit required (of course) but if you do credit me, drop me a link and I'll give you some free advertising here on my blog!

Download it here:

Have fun!

08/08: Coffee Flair

I haven't felt too inspired lately so I've been playing around in Photoshop trying to get my mojo back. I've been thinking of making a coffee themed kit, because I'm seriously addicted to coffee, but so far it's just not coming together.

I did make some cute buttons using some of my older kits that I thought I'd share with you though.

Both of these buttons match freebie kits I've made (don't you love it when that happens?), Creative Dreams and Cherry Cheesecake. Just click to get them!

08/04: Changing Color Tutorial

There is a fun color challenge going on over at the Creative Dreams Forum right now, with an awesome bonus for participating (we're all about the freebies here at Creative Dreams).

I know you want to play with us, but it's been said that color challenges can be hard if you're not a designer.

Not anymore!! I've put together a video tutorial that will show you how to use the papers you have in your stash and change them to match any palette! It's so quick and easy to do, you'll be amazed!

No excuses now, come join in the fun!

Hugs,

08/03: A Shout Out

I received an email from Mary (aka Catlady) from Digital Scrap Garden awhile back asking if she could use my CU freebies to make more freebies. I said "of course you can" because as long as you're not reselling my CU products as is (without making some changes to them), I don't really care what you do with them! :D

So she's offering up a free kit on the Digital Scrap Garden forum, and she used my Retro Overlays to make some of the papers. Very cool!

Here's her kit

and you can get it here:
August Daily Petals

Be sure to check that thread every day in August to get the whole kit!

Enjoy!

07/28: The 2 Min Makeover

I finally figured out how to use YouTube! I know, I know... You'd think someone who's worked in computer related fields for over ten years, and who's married to an IT director for an international company would have a better grasp on something as simple as video sharing.

I'm pretty dense when I want to be though. :D

This is good news for you though because it means I can finally share my tutorials easily! I uploaded one of my older tutorials yesterday as I was learning how to do it, and hopefully I'll have a brand spanking new one for you later today or tomorrow!

This technique is called The 2 Minute Makeover. It's a great way to soften feminine photos with a beautiful airbrushed effect.
